About Ferrie Lehman – Ferrie Lehman

Since my youth, I have had a strong affinity for the entertainment sector, including the music industry, radio, and TV. However, there was no internet back then and no audiovisual or media courses available at the vocational schools (ROCs) of the time.

I was searching for my path, and my studies were second choices that did not ignite my passion. In 1985, while studying retail, I had the opportunity to intern at a record/CD store, and two years later, I secured a permanent position there. For the first time, I felt I was in the right place.

Years of listening to the radio, watching music programs on TV, and recording cassette tapes had given me extensive knowledge of music repertoire. I also started selling disco mix tapes, working as a DJ in the hospitality industry, and by then, a local radio station had started in my area where I hosted my own radio show for 10 years.

The music industry began to decline rapidly due to music downloading, and after 8 years, my position at the CD store became redundant. Two years later, I had the chance to retrain as an audiovisual technician, which led to my first job at an audiovisual company in 2000, putting me on the path to realizing my childhood dream.

There, I could finally channel my love for finding beautiful locations and shots and creatively thinking about concepts. However, after one year, the company decided to dismantle the production department, letting go of the cameramen, editors, and my opportunity to pursue my ambitions. After 6 years with that company, I realized that I could not rely on an employer to fulfill my ambitions. I had to do it myself, so in 2006, I started Rubicom Narrowcasting Networks. At last, I could create content creatively and developed fictional narrowcasting loops to illustrate my vision.

However, in 2008, a global financial crisis broke out, forcing me to shut down Rubicom in 2010 and re-enter the workforce as an audiovisual technician.

I started taking photos for my Facebook profile, calling them postcards—just pictures of beautiful locations. After my vacation in the USA, I received feedback like, “Great photos, man! You should do something with them.” I heard this often.

I decided to restart Rubicom, this time as a platform to showcase all my videos and photos and offer my services as a voice-over artist due to my pleasant radio voice, according to others. It also served as a webshop for my photography.

From 2019 to 2021, I studied Fiction Directing at the Amsterdam Film School. Concurrently with my studies, I produced my first film, “Sterk Op Pelt.”

Working creatively with image and sound is what makes me very happy with Rubicom Media.

As of 2022, Rubicom Media is a portfolio for my films, videos, and voice-over work, as well as a webshop/portfolio for decorative photography and portraits.
